So that’s what it was about…!

Few Haileyburians will remember that 27 years ago photographer Mark Draisey was allowed unique access to photograph Quad, Dining Hall, Chapel and even inside Trevelyan for his recently released book, Thirty years on! a private view of public schools, featured in  Bianca London’s Mail Online article Sept 2014. A chapter in the book is dedicated to Haileybury and  includes a number of classic photographs circa 1987. Features writer Alison Boshoff (Aby & C, 86) spotted the article and launched a Facebook campaign to reveal the identity of several of the protagonists. There are a number of fabulous shots depicting Haileybury life, including birthday cold baths after breakfast; Memorial Dining Hall as it once was, a a place where the whole school convened three times a day;

Plebs tea, during the Half; even the long dormitories of 48 beds, (sadly the campaign beds had been replaced by 1987, although I seem to remember being happy about that at the time). Presumably that ended the use of terms such as “lamp-posting” and “titantic-ing” peoples beds!!

The book is available at £19.99 from all online book sellers as well as selected shops, publisher Halsgrove. or too see if you are in it, visit: http://www.markdraisey.com You will
