Lawrence Baker (C 83), joins The Haileybury Society as Alumni Co-Ordinator

Lawrence Baker (C 83), joins The Haileybury Society as Alumni Co-Ordinator, a newly created role.  Lawrence has diverse experience in business, in sectors ranging from retailing to childcare and property to electronic publishing. In addition to those interests, he is studying part-time for a BA(Hons) in Education at the University of Hertfordshire. Lawrence joins us on a part-time basis and has been tasked with enhancing communication between Haileybury and its former pupils and implementing the Society’s e-mentoring scheme.

“As Honorary Secretary of the Golfing Society for the past 8 years, I have met OHs from all vintages and to a man (and woman) they all are interested in supporting younger OHs starting out. It is my intention to bring that warmth of feeling to the College and ensure that every Haileyburian leaves the school knowing there is a wealth of experience out there ready and waiting to be tapped into.”

“Being one of the few Haileyburians who didn’t go to University straight form school, I am only too aware that some pupils slip through the net.  I will work closely with the careers and universities departments at the school, ensuring that each Haileyburian explores every avenue open to them and takes full advantage of the extensive support on offer whilst at school and thereafter.”

“It is crucial that every sixth former leaves the school recognising that they will be an OH and a member of The Haileybury Society for the rest of their lives and that means they have always got someone to bounce an idea off.”

If you would like to join the mentoring scheme as a mentor or mentee please contact Lawrence Baker at The Haileybury Society. l.baker@haileybury.com

(You are never too old or too young to be a mentor or mentee!! Some senior OHs might like to receive IT advice from more adept OHs).
