Sam Billings (BF 04)

AN important landmark was reached by Sam Billings when Kent beat Essex by an innings and 207 runs at Tunbridge Wells, writes David Rimmer.

The Old Haileyburian scored 100 not out to register his maiden first class century in The County Championship.

Billings, 24, also took six wickets as a wicket-keeper in the game that finished on Tuesday July 21.

It was a moment to savour for Billings after he had narrowly missed his first ton in the Championship the previous week when he had scored 99 against Surrey at The Kia Oval.

In June, Billings made his first five one-day appearances for England when they beat New Zealand 3-2.
